From the cutting end of Marwan on, I HAD to vote for season four. As I see here, some think the show hasn't been the same since and I can't disagree. I still like it, as it's 24, but it lost a little luster.

This season, 7, had a closer feel to 1-4. Are they really hanging it up after 8?

Personally, for me, you can't beat the ending of season one, it was, without doubt, one of the most nerve shredding pieces of television ever produced, I mean, for me it was the series at the top of its game and for the most part the season finales from the following seasons have failed to match its impact a little, don't get me wrong, they're great episodes, but they rely too much on the formula of "first half action, second half resolution" wheras the season one finale, once it starts it doesn't stop, it's just one hour of non stop thrills, emotional devastation and heartache, it's probably 24's best ever hour.

i voted for 4 but it was a very hard call i mean they all have great endings but you can't top 4.

I voted for 4 as well. Have to agree with you about 6. As much as I have ragged on that season, the ending was indeed well done.

I said this in the other poll (Jack's worst day) but there is no doubt in my mind that the best ending was when his wife died. We knew then that bad things were attracted to Jack and Nina's evil side left you wondering what would happen next season.
