... at least for however much of the season there is left. Yes, with only a month or so left in the 2006-2007 season, all of your Thursday night favorites have returned to make the barren-wasteland-not-that-long-ago once again a night of "Must See TV."
Tonight was uniquely jampacked and several shows were quite worthy of mentioning.
Ugly Betty (ABC) - 8:00

Episode 1.20 - "Punch Out"
My Thoughts: Ugly Betty finally returned tonight with fresh episodes, and this was actually the first one I'd watched since before America Ferrera even won her Golden Globe. Well, let's be honest here. There was one major reason not to miss tonight's ep, and that reason was Vanessa Williams, of course. Not to take anything away from the other characters, but uh ... can we please get more screen time for Wilhelmina?
My Rating: 8.0/10
Other 8:00 Shows That Were New Tonight: Smallville (The CW), My Name is Earl (NBC), Survivor: Fiji (CBS), Are You More Retarded Than a 5th Grader (FOX)
Supernatural (The CW) - 9:00

Episode 2.18 - "Hollywood Babylon"
My Thoughts: Supernatural also made its glorious return tonight with ... a self-serving filler of a standalone. Yeeeeaaahhh ... another "vengeful spirits" storyline. Ugh. Again? Don't worry. I'm sure the mythology-serving two-part season finale will be packed with demonic sons of b's, including the yellow-eyed demon "big bad" himself. But seriously, time to cut the ghost crap out. We want more focus on demons in this show, dammit.
My Rating: 7.5/10
Other 9:00 Shows That Were New Tonight: Grey's Anatomy (ABC), CSI (CBS), 30 Rock and Scrubs (NBC), Trading Spouses (FOX)
ER (NBC) - 10:00

Episode 13.19 - "Family Business"
My Thoughts: ER came back from an insanely long hiatus last week (7 wks, same as "Heroes") with a mediocre episode ... but more than made of for it tonight with a truly moving one. Fantastically emotional episodic storyline involving the man with Alzheimer's, as well as some great story arch development in other areas. But the win of the night? That goes to John Stamos, who by the way, I'm convinced is the best thing to happen to ER since George Clooney called it quits. The storyline involving Stamos' character of Dr. Tony Gates is one filled with unlimited potential, and they definitely succeeded in doing that marvelously tonight. Very moving episode.
My Rating: 9.0/10
Other 10:00 Shows That Were New Tonight: Shark (CBS), October Road (ABC)
Yeah, seriously, less than 4 days left until the return of Heroes, people. Then nothing else will matter. Life as we know it will freeze for the show's glorious and highly-anticipated return. (what, you didn't really think I could actually start a topic w/out mentioning "Heroes")
